Journalist Fabiana Ceyhan remotely followed the elections in Kazakhstan, highlighting citizens’ participation in the electoral process and the exercise of their right to vote.
During her remote coverage, Ceyhan followed developments surrounding the vote and said citizens were able to exercise their right to choose their representatives in a secure environment.
“Even from a distance, it was possible to follow a process in which citizens had the opportunity to exercise their right to vote. Democracy depends on people being able to participate and express their choices at the ballot box,” Ceyhan said.
For the journalist, public participation remains a fundamental part of any electoral process. Regardless of the final outcome, she stressed the importance of ensuring that citizens are able to cast their votes and take part in their country’s political life.
Remote coverage also provided an opportunity to follow different stages of the electoral process and underscored the role of journalists and international observers in following elections beyond their own countries.
“Democracy was exercised. What matters most is that citizens have their right to vote respected and are able to make their choices safely,” Fabiana Ceyhan concluded.
